Agents That Set Their Own Appointments - But Don't

I've had this problem many times over the years and I hate when I see on listing instructions that the agent needs to set the appointment.  They rarely answer their cell phones and you have to leave a voice mail.  And some don't respond.

I'm just shocked that in this market some agents don't respond in a timely manner to set appointments.  I had a request to show one property a prospect found on my new custom REW IDX.  I found out when the buyer wanted to view the property and went to set the appointment. 

A couple of days went by without a response from the agent.  I spoke to the buyer, who found another property to view, that the agent had to set all appointments and wasn't responding.  He was able to view the other property.

On the 3rd day I finally got a call from the listing agent who apologized and told me he was sick.  Hey, I was sick, too!  I just returned home from AZ and caught something while there and felt bad.  But I wanted to take care of this buyer, sick or not.

If I were the listing agent that had to set my own appointments and was sick I'd get someone to back me up.  What surprised me was that this agent works for a popular, somewhat newer franchise that pushes their agent education.  I expected better from an agent that works for this company. 

Since I've been sick I've lost my voice a couple times.  I saw there was an appointment set on a listing that the instructions had changed on.  I called my office and croaked to the secretary to where she could understand what I was saying and she told me she did have the new instructions. 

And that's one of the many reasons I chose my office.  They offer professional staff that handles showings and more.  If an agent can't handle thier own appointments they need to move to an office that does or hire someone else or a service to do it for them.  There's no excuse!
