The Latest REW Contest

My finger slipped and I lost an entire post - when will I learn? Here I go again (on a Word doc).

Morgan Carey and REW are sponsoring another contest! Like many of you, I am quite busy during the spring/summer real estate cycle of home selling. I felt a lull right after the tax credit expired here in the U.S. but I got sick that week so it was perfect timing.

Morgan Carey is helping Carolyn Capalbo regain her website reputation since she shares the same name with a woman who has a daughter involved in a political sex scandal. Imagine a buyer or seller Googling Carolyn the REALTOR and getting links to this sleazy stuff on Google's first page. How many of them will take the time to sort the two out?

I've already won a REW contest

This is a worthy cause and I'm here to help. I'm also very competitive and although I've won a couple things from REW, it doesn't mean I don't want more...

The last contest I was involved in was not sponsored by REW, but prizes were provided by them. My team won and we weren't in it for the prize.

I won the first REW sponsored contest. I brought in the most new members to the REW Forum and I received a template website and hosting. I'm thinking Morgan got some new clients out of that one.

I also won something else down the road. To make a long story short, I ended up losing my oldest domain to my first ever real estate website. Morgan Carey surprised me by buying it back (for over $1,200.00) and giving me another template site and hosting!

Morgan and I both got some PR out of that since it was published by the Wall Street Journal (online version, not sure about print) and was syndicated by many other online publications. It was also in print in the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun Times. A local rag, The Southtown Star, did a follow-up story and even had a cheesy picture of me looking at a computer screen with a picture of Morgan on it (it made me look fat).

I don't know if Morgan got any business from that, but he got noticed and got a lot of good will. That is how I view this current contest. It is Morgan Carey once again extending a noble gesture to help someone out.

I must also give accolades to Eric Blackwell - forget about winning first prize now! He is throwing in his own time as a prize.

So if I win something again, should I give it up or walk away? Heck no!

  • A REW LEC site - I'm drooling over this but must compose myself since I don't have a chance, but I can dream!
  • $5,000 worth of copywriting service from REW - not sure exactly what that entails, but I want it.
  • 4 tickets to the REW Summit - I missed last year's summit since it was during a busy time and I didn't prepare far enough in advance (it isn't easy getting to REW headquarters from the U.S.). This time I can bring my husband since he will be working for me and I can donate the other 2 tickets to someone else that wants to go since I don't know anyone locally that would be interested, and that's all right with me.
  • 1 hour of phone consultation with Eric Blackwell - Eric, please reserve my 1 hour now as I definitely will have a chance at this one since you're being so generous.

This is a No Brainer

Carolyn Capalbo will have her good name back on 1st page Google results because of this contest. I remember many of us banding together to help Marc Rasmussen when he had to forfeit his long standing domain name and I don't believe there was any kind of contest or prizes involved with that.

I think the difference was that Marc was a known comrade to us here at REW and elsewhere on the Internet. I had never heard of Carolyn before but it's always nice to meet someone new. And thanks to Morgan for bringing the group together again for a good cause.

I have been drooling over getting a REW site for about 6 months now. Unfortunately, life has gotten in the way, and I haven't been able to get my site setup. One thing I can do, is help out Carolyn the best I can, and maybe I can win a site in the process. The REW team is absolutely awesome for doing this for her, and I am happy to be a part of it. If I win, I will do my best to get REW some new clients by spreading the word of their good will, well I'm already doing that, but I will do more. Good luck in the contest and it looks like Carolyn is going to get her name back in a big way.

It is so good to get a group together to work for such a good cause. Last time I checked, your post had top position so it will be interesting to see what happens down the line. A contest is always better when there is a good underlying reason vs. just winning a prize.
