Palos Park Homes and Real Estate

Horsetail Lake Walking TrailPalos Park, IL is a prestigious southwest suburb and is the most expensive village in the area.  The average price of a Palos Park home in 2009 was $481,283.  The village had its beginnings as an artist community.  The village's website has this wonderful description, "pastoral setting and rural splendor."

Palos Park offers country living with close access to downtown Chicago via car or the Metra train station located at 123rd St. & 82nd Ave.  There are only a few small shopping strip malls in the village, so residents travel to Orland Park, Chicago Ridge or elsewhere for large mall shopping.

Palos Park Real Estate

The heart of Palos Park has homes surrounded by trees and forest preserves.  Many of the homes are unique in style on large lots.  Depending on acreage, horses are allowed.

The photo shows the Horsetail Lake walking trail that my son, grandkids and I got lost on one time.  The trail takes you past Swallow Cliff and has twists and turns.  Our 3 mile walk turned into 15!  I don't think we've been back since.  Fishing is allowed in the lake which is located just north of McCarthy Rd. and on the East side of 104th Ave.

One of the newer subdivisions is Shadow Ridge with prices starting above $1,000,000.  To view current properties for sale click below:
