Visit Cabbagetown This Weekend!
This time, I would like to inform you about an upcoming event, to be held in Toronto, ON this weekend. The reason I am thrilled with it being organized is that I simply love Cabbagetown. With its Victorian homes built between 1860 and 1895, it's one of Toronto's most gentrified and popular neighbourhoods. So it's not only the shopping district with those one-of-a-kind shops that attracts me to Cabbagetown, it's more the overall athmosphere of this neighbourhood and the justified pride its inhabitants feel.
Anyway, back to this upcoming event.
A non-profit organization organizes the Cabbagetown Tour of Homes, on Saturday, Sept. 13th & Sunday, Sept. 14th 2008. On these two days, some Cabbagetown homeowners invite you to explore the private spaces of some…
Read Full PostSummer Movie Season Over
Those of you who are my regular readers know that real estate isn't my only passion. Movies would be #1, but I have to make a living, too. However, from time to time, I do take a break and hit the movies.
This summer, I managed to see a couple of movies, I had some good times watching superhero films, big screen adaptations of some TV shows, and some unnecessary remakes and sequels.
I can't wait for the Toronto movie madness, or, rather, the 33rd Annual Toronto Film Festival, being held from September 4th to the 13th. I read that 312 films from 64 countries will be screened during those 10 days.
I am looking forward to watching the latest WWI romantic epic, the Canadian "Passchendaele" directed by Paul Gross.
Of course, I will have to narrow down my…
Inukshuk Photo "Kontest"
As I wrote earlier, our Toronto realtor team has chosen the Inukshuk to symbolize our business.
Inukshuks are also serving as a Canadian national symbol (and also the official logo of 2010 Olympics). If you travel throughout Canada, you'll certainly come across a couple of these sculptures.
Now, we have decided to run a small competition, or, as we call it, a "Kontest". (Well, it only depends on you, how small this Kontest would be... )
We encourage talented amateur photographers to take a picture of (or, in front of) an inukshuk. Once the contest closes on September 10, we’ll post the pics on my team's website, and also here on my REW blog. The three best pictures will be awarded with a hand-crafted, pewter inukshuk letter-opener.
So do you have a…
Read Full PostThere Are Realtors And Realtors
Judy, a friend of mine recently told me a story of her meeting with a real estate agent. They didn't know each other, yet began to chat. The guy (the realtor) kept telling Judy me how real estate in the area is always strong and prices never come down. He didn't seem to have the slightest idea of what he was talking about.
You know, there are Realtors and realtors. First one is somebody devoted to business, somebody who loves his work and who understands it's complexity and connections with economy. Second one is somebody who went through few trainings and courses and then started his dream about big money. He knows prices in his area, he knows what is good property and what is bad property, but truly - he doesn't understand the function of the "organism"…
I've Been To The Movies...
As you may know, I'm not only interested in real estate. One of my hobbies is going to the movies. Recently, I saw a film and a musical so I wanted to share my take on those.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Ah that rare beast - a sequel better than the original! Well, that's my take on it anyway. If you are a Marvel Comics fan who found the original a bit too dark, you will love the happy go lucky sequel. Who couldn't love an anti-hero sent through a rift to destroy earth, who with a little good parenting became a candy-and-kitten-loving advocate for humanity? The big red lug has cut back on his smoking, taken up with the firestarter, and is now on a quest to rid the world of ancient evil. We also get to know Abe (a.k.a. Blue) a lot better and he is just…
Why An Inukshuk?
An "inukshuk" [plural: inuksuit], is an Inuit word that literally translated means "stone man that points the way." Inukshuks are stone cairns that were erected by Inuit at prominent locations throughout the barrens to serve as guideposts or markers.
Inukshuks can now be seen in people's gardens and yards, on the shores by their cottages, out front of condominiums, in the boardroom. There are stunning pieces of art in all shapes & sizes, from silver coins to mini rock figurines, to gorgeous oil paintings.
Our Toronto realtor team has chosen the Inukshuk to symbolize our business. We are here to guide you safely and comfortably through the sale and/or purchase of your cherished asset, your home. We are not just here for today but for life. Our goal is to…
Read Full PostFemale Condo Buyers
Recently, I found some interesting statistics on gender and real estate. (Interesting combination, isn't it?)
A poll recently conducted by Ipsos-Reid, among women aged 20 to 45 who have purchased a home as an individual rather than jointly brought out the following details.
Their average age to purchased their first home was 29 years
- 82 per cent are single
- 80 per cent have no children
- 49 per cent have a University Degree
- 86 per cent still live in the last home they purchased
- 81 per cent made one home purchase as an individual
These financially and well educated independent women indicated:
- 71 per cent advised buying a home was a good investment

- 54…
Kolouring Kontest
Recently, I held a special Easter-themed 'Krazy Kontest' on my website, this time for kids only. I called it 'Kolouring Kontest for the Kiddies'.I was thrilled by thenumber and enthusiasm of all the kids who coloured their hearts out! I can't resist showing you the winning Easter Bunny, chosen by random draw.
Here it is, it was coloured by the 5-year-old Marcus Leszek.
What do you think of it?
