The Calgary Real Estate Board's MLS System recently went through a little upgrade. Calgary Realtors can now upload up to 20 images of properties for people to view. This is twice the number of images that was allowed before they made the "upgrade". The City of Calgary have mailed out the 2009 property assessments to Calgary home owners on January 2nd, 2009. The city says 33% of the property owners will see an increase in their property assessments over their 2008 assessment. The average assessed price of a single family home in 2009 is $427,500, down from $447,500 in 2008. Condominiums are also down to $278,500 from $291,500 in 2008. Calgary Real Estate market continues to show sings of slowing down in the new home sector. New housing starts in Metro Calgary has dropped by 19.1% in July 2008 when comparing to July 2007. There were 431 foundations poured for single family homes in the Calgary area, compared to 800 in July 2007. That is a difference of 46.1%.
