As many of you know, Conroe businesses are really taking off! Montgomery County in general is growing. We are a bedroom community for Houston (4th largest city in America). The new Teas Crossing shopping center on the Northwest corner of FM 3083 and I-45 (feeder) has not only the new JCPennys store but after you are tired of shopping you can relax by the warm and inviting fireplace that was imported from Italy. The fireplace is located in the much loved, Olive Garden restaurant. Our family lo... Read Full Post

With all the national media hounding us with the bad news of housing in states such as California, Arizona and Florida I thought it was about time we talked more about the good news of where we are-- near Houston-- in Montgomery County-- Conroe and The Woodlands. Many people ask me how the housing market is going lately and if the home values are going to go down. There is a great website www.PMI-US.org that give a realistic picture of just how good we are sitting compared to other US states.... Read Full Post

What a blessing it is to have family and friends surrounding us during the holidays! I love this time of year, when the Christmas music is playing, the beautiful lights are beaming and our hearts are lifted to Christ, the Reason For The Season! Our family went to a special Christmas Eve service held in The Woodlands at The Fellowship Of The Woodlands Church, located off 242, College Park Drive across from Lone Star College, Montgomery. We all enjoyed beautiful music and an inspiring message a... Read Full Post

It was so exciting to see a dusting of snow the other day here in Conroe, Texas on my deck at home. Being near Houston, we NEVER get snow. It was certainly a taste of snow for Christmas. Having moved here from Maine, many of my clothes are wool and warm for the winter. Texas shines in the winter when you can be swimming at the YMCA in an outdoor pool during December (which I did one December!) Montgomery County has great weather with some cold weather in the winter and many days of sunny 65 d... Read Full Post

I hope everyone had a wonderful, warm and friendly Thanksgiving! We certainly did remembering everything that God has given us and how He is involved in our lives every day. With family and friends and a son home from college, we all gathered around to eat, play games and watch "White Christmas" -- a true classic. Another community that will be thankful is The Woodlands, where the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion released its plans for a $9 million renovation that will increase its covered se... What a treat it was to be a part of the audience for this first musical production at the new Performing Arts Center (PAC) located on the campas of John Cooper school in The Woodlands. This was a musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss. But it wasn't just a string of his stories set to music. In fact what they have done is to create a totally new, full-length book musical, with a story which weaves together his most famous tales and characters in unexpected ways. You remember reading a Dr. Se... Read Full Post

With much "doom and gloom" in the media about the nationwide housing market, those of us who live in Montgomery County, (Conroe, Lake Conroe, The Woodlands, Willis, Magnolia and Montgomery) are "smell'in like a rose" -- a yellow Texas rose! Texas has created 50% of all US jobs in the last year and our area, Montgomery County, boasts of being the 10th most populated county in the 254 counties in the state. Our homes are still increasing in value at a rate of approximately 4% per year. It's Nov... Read Full Post

New Shopping at JCPennys Teas Crossing In Conroe Texas! Many of us have been watching with anticipation as the new shopping center at Teas Crossing is being completed. The anchor store, JCPennys, is a welcome addition to Conroe's ever expanding array of shopping. I went to their Grand Opening around the first of October. The inside of the store is very nice. With the outlet mall only one exit north of this intersection of FM 3083 and I-45 (across from the Kohls plaza), home owners won't need ... Read Full Post

Fall Aquatic Programs at the Brand New Natatorium Conroe Independent School District (CISD) has a new swimming center on the east side of I-45 behind the Portofino Shopping Center on David Memorial Rd. in Shenandoah, Texas. I had the priviledge of viewing this wonderful structure with its huge swimming pool of 20 lanes for swimmers and 2 diving board sections for high and low diving. The Natatorium's goal is to provide programs that will enrich the lives of the students, faculty and staff, an... Read Full Post
