A Great Place To Dine

photo ldayen

As many of you know, Conroe businesses are really taking off!  Montgomery County in general is growing.  We are a bedroom community for Houston (4th largest city in America).  The new Teas Crossing shopping center on the Northwest corner of FM 3083 and I-45 (feeder) has not only the new JCPennys store but after you are tired of shopping you can relax by the warm and inviting fireplace that was imported from Italy.  The fireplace is located in the much loved, Olive Garden restaurant.  Our family loves the Olive Garden, with its blend of Italian cuisine and friendly Texas staff.  My husband, Steve and I ate there the other week and were very impressed with the decore and all the imported features, including custom tile counters and flooring.  The variety on…

Great Housing News For Our Area!

photo ldayen

With all the national media hounding us with  the bad news of housing in states such as California, Arizona and Florida I thought it was about time we talked more about the good news of where we are-- near Houston-- in Montgomery County-- Conroe and The Woodlands.  Many people ask me how the housing market is going lately and if the home values are going to go down.  There is a great website  www.PMI-US.org that give a realistic picture of just how good we are sitting compared to other US states.  In their chart of % probability that home values will go down, California was 80% and higher while Houston, Texas is 1%.  We've never been in a "housing bubble" and so have had nothing to "burst".  If only buyers and sellers would stop listening to so much…

Home For The Holidays

photo ldayen

What a blessing it is to have family and friends surrounding us during the holidays!  I love this time of year, when the Christmas music is playing, the beautiful lights are beaming and our hearts are lifted to Christ, the Reason For The Season!  Our family went to a special Christmas Eve service held in The Woodlands at The Fellowship Of The Woodlands Church, located off 242, College Park Drive across from Lone Star College, Montgomery.  We all enjoyed beautiful music and an inspiring message about "Coming Home".  Here in Montgomery County, we have many churches of all faiths from which to choose from.  I invite you to find a church family that is warm and inviting to fellowship with.  If you need a suggestion, give me a call (936) 537-2888.  Ours is…

A Taste Of Snow For Our Texas Christmas

photo ldayen

It was so exciting to see a dusting of snow the other day here in Conroe, Texas on my deck at home.  Being near Houston, we NEVER get snow.  It was certainly a taste of snow for Christmas.  Having moved here from Maine, many of my clothes are wool and warm for the winter.  Texas shines in the winter when you can be swimming at the YMCA in an outdoor pool during December (which I did one December!)  Montgomery County has great weather with some cold weather in the winter and many days of sunny 65 degree weather also.  Our homes here in Conroe, Lake Conroe, and The Woodlands are increasing in value because of this weather.  If you are tired of living in the state that you are in and driving in snow "knee deep", think about our area to relocate to.  Our home…

Everyone Is Thankful!

photo ldayen

I hope everyone had a wonderful, warm and friendly Thanksgiving!  We certainly did remembering everything that God has given us and how He is involved in our lives every day.  With family and friends and a son home from college, we all gathered around to eat, play games and watch "White Christmas" -- a true classic.  Another community that will be thankful is The Woodlands, where the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion released its plans for a $9 million renovation that will increase its covered seats from 2,800 to 6,500.  They are hoping to reopen in May of 2009 with a new and much sturdier roof that can withstand faster winds.  They look for a strong season next year at this unique outdoor center for performing arts.  Just another reason to live in The…

The John Cooper School Seussical; Production A Great Success!

photo ldayen

Seussical PerformersWhat a treat it was to be a part of the audience for this first musical production at the new Performing Arts Center (PAC) located on the campas of John Cooper school in The Woodlands.  This was a musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss.  But it wasn't just a string of his stories set to music.  In fact what they have done is to create a totally new, full-length book musical, with a story which weaves together his most famous tales and characters in unexpected ways.  You remember reading a Dr. Seuss book to your child, I'm sure.  I do, and in fact McEligott's Pool is still in our library.  With a cast and technical crew of over 40 young people and many, many staff and volunteers, this production was fabulous and entertaining.  The creative costumes and…

The Advantages Of Living In Montgomery County, Texas

photo ldayen

With much "doom and gloom" in the media about the nationwide housing market, those of us who live in Montgomery County, (Conroe, Lake Conroe, The Woodlands, Willis, Magnolia and Montgomery) are "smell'in like a rose" -- a yellow Texas rose!  Texas has created 50% of all US jobs in the last year and our area,  Montgomery County, boasts of being the 10th  most populated county in the 254 counties in the state.  Our homes are still increasing in value at a rate of approximately 4% per year.  It's November now and the housing market tends to be a little slower during the holidays, but come January and February of 2009, I look for more activity in home sales and a brighter outlook for the economy.  I can't see the future, of course, but I believe we will be…

New Shopping At JCPennys Teas Crossing In Conroe Texas!

New Shopping at JCPennys Teas Crossing In Conroe Texas!

Many of us have been watching with anticipation as the new shopping center at Teas Crossing is being completed. The anchor store, JCPennys, is a welcome addition to Conroe's ever expanding array of shopping. I went to their Grand Opening around the first of October. The inside of the store is very nice. With the outlet mall only one exit north of this intersection of FM 3083 and I-45 (across from the Kohls plaza), home owners won't need to go to Houston for anything now! Along with the beautiful JCPennys store, Chase Bank will be located on the corner and the wonderful Olive Garden restaurant next to the bank. Our family loves the Olive Garden restaurant. There will be other stores in the plaza… Read Full Post
