The Advantages Of Living In Montgomery County, Texas
With much "doom and gloom" in the media about the nationwide housing market, those of us who live in Montgomery County, (Conroe, Lake Conroe, The Woodlands, Willis, Magnolia and Montgomery) are "smell'in like a rose" -- a yellow Texas rose! Texas has created 50% of all US jobs in the last year and our area, Montgomery County, boasts of being the 10th most populated county in the 254 counties in the state. Our homes are still increasing in value at a rate of approximately 4% per year. It's November now and the housing market tends to be a little slower during the holidays, but come January and February of 2009, I look for more activity in home sales and a brighter outlook for the economy. I can't see the future, of course, but I believe we will be…

New Shopping at JCPennys Teas Crossing In Conroe Texas!
Many of us have been watching with anticipation as the new shopping center at Teas Crossing is being completed. The anchor store, JCPennys, is a welcome addition to Conroe's ever expanding array of shopping. I went to their Grand Opening around the first of October. The inside of the store is very nice. With the outlet mall only one exit north of this intersection of FM 3083 and I-45 (across from the Kohls plaza), home owners won't need to go to Houston for anything now! Along with the beautiful JCPennys store, Chase Bank will be located on the corner and the wonderful Olive Garden restaurant next to the bank. Our family loves the Olive Garden restaurant. There will be other stores in the plaza… Read Full PostFall Aquatic Programs At The Brand New Natatorium Conroe Independent School...
Fall Aquatic Programs at the Brand New Natatorium Conroe Independent School District (CISD) has a new swimming center on the east side of I-45 behind the Portofino Shopping Center on David Memorial Rd. in Shenandoah, Texas. I had the priviledge of viewing this wonderful structure with its huge swimming pool of 20 lanes for swimmers and 2 diving board sections for high and low diving. The Natatorium's goal is to provide programs that will enrich the lives of the students, faculty and staff, and parents and community. It is located next to the new, outdoor football stadium where The Woodlands HS, College Park HS and Oakridge HS play their games and use the locker room facilities in the Natatorium. A Gold Medal Swimming Clinic was scheduled for Sat. September…

A Beautiful Evening at The Woodlands Waterway!
The other day my husband and I ventured to Waterway Square in The Woodlands to experience an evening of cool relaxation. We parked at the Marriot Hotel and walked out their back entrance, following the sidewalk next to the waterway that is lined with lighted trees on both sides. This waterway wound around to the newly contructed Waterway Square where fountains and waterfalls are lighted with brilliant colors that dance to soothing music. It was a typical July evening in Texas, and the breezes that surrounded us were wonderful. Steve and I sat on a bench, arm in arm, watching the small children in their bathing suits playing in the colored-lights of the fountains that popped up from the concrete.
We…

With some of the challenges in the country, the homes in our very own Montgomery County are still appreciating. It is taking a little longer to sell a home right now, but if you are a buyer, there is a good supply of inventory to choose from. Whether you sell for less or not you will probably be buying for less also, which will help to level things out. The local "Courier Showcase" news from today (Sunday, June 29) states, "Despite the low sales, home prices continued to appreciate in May. . . The area's median price increased by 21 percent to $203,250. . . Appreciating home prices remain the bright spot in our monthly report of property sales activity in the Houston market, with homeowners deriving solid value from their properties, said Michael Levitin,…

Keller Williams Golf Tournament Benefit
Monday, May 19 saw over 100 golfers participating in a fun day of golfing for a great cause. The Keller Williams Realty offices in Conroe and The Woodlands sponsored a tournament to help benefit a family in the community. With a lot of medical bills piling up because of kidney failure and the challenges of continuing to work with these physical disabilities, the Zerwick family try to lead a positive life with their 2 children. All those who volunteered that day and those who enjoyed the golfing and dinner/auction that followed had a wonderful time. We all wish we could impact more families in crisis and help aleviate some of the financial stress that happens to the best of families. Last year we were able to… Read Full PostMontgomery County Youth Wins Poster Contest
Montgomery County Youth wins poster contest. With so many of our young people being on the computer with computer games and chatting, some of the other "arts" are being lost in the shuffle. Reading, drawing, and painting are not always in the top 5 favorite things to do when they come home from school. One fifth-grader in Grangerland intermediate school created a colorful poster that won first place in the 2008 Texas Arbor Day poster contest sponsored locally by the Montgomery County Beautification Association. His name, Michael Eppinett, and his prize was $500. He used his creative brain and now represents a good role model for his friends and classmates. There were a total of 1,510 posters submitted by the 23 area schools of the county. Congratulations…
