The Bridge Is Finished-- A Great Christmas Present!
For those of you who frequent the FM 3083 road that crosses I-45, we are all so glad that the new construction has been completed. The reopening ribbon-cutting ceremony happened on December 13, 2007, a week ahead of time. A special thank you goes to the employees of TxDOT for working diligently to see the bridge widening project (2 lanes to 5 lanes) completed in time for the Christmas season. Shoppers were excited to be able to use the very popular bridge to access the new Kohls and Pet Smart shopping center. Across the bridge on the West side, the site for the new mall is being prepared and many are waiting in anticipation of making Conroe their main shopping rather than the Woodlands Mall. The new bridge bares the name of Don Blanton Memorial Bridge in…

The Honorable Judge Saddler was our guest speaker for an area meeting recently about the incredible growth in Montgomery County, Texas. He has been elected for 5 consecutive terms to serve our county, and really has a handle on what is happening and what is projected for our area. Those of you who are home owners in Conroe, Montgomery, and Lake Conroe will especially appreciate knowing that He reported that we are the 26th fastest growing county in the nation and #3 in the state of Texas! Currently, our population is 405,000 in which 24,000 people are added every year. This is a 5-6% growth rate when many other areas of the U.S. are flat or decreasing in size. Texas is still a very commercial-friendly state and businesses move in to an area bringing…

Independence Day Celebration!
Independence is something that we all certainly take for granted. I know that I do many times. When the 4th of July comes around and we have family and friends over at our home we can remember what others did for us to insure that we have a safe and prosperous country. In celebrating this occassion, our family went to the fireworks show in The Woodlands, Texas. We shopped earlier in the evening at the famous Market Square right near The Woodlands Waterway and The Woodlands Mall. I always enjoy going here in the evening where we walk from one quaint little store to the next and eat at Tommy Bahamas or Chipoltle. The fireworks started at 9:00 p.m. and continued for at least 20-25 minutes boasting many colors and designs. The…

Monday, June 4, found 114 golfers enjoying the luscious grounds of RiverPlantation in Conroe, Texas. The noon tee time saw golfers positioned on everyone of the 18 holes ready to start their game. The homeowners who live aroundthe course waited to see them go by! They were all there with a great attitudeand a lot of enthusiasm as they participated in the day's benefit activities. Some of the "fun" holes included "Hole in One", "Longest Drive", "Closest tothe Pin" and the famous "Tire" hole. We tried to give away a car from WiesnerBuick-Pontiac-GMC-Isuzu in Conroe and a brand new golf car from Conroe GolfCars. But we couldn't give it away! Maybe next time. This golf tournamentwas the first of the annual Keller Williams Realty benefits that will becollecting… Read Full Post
Oh, My Tax Bill Went Up! - Conroe,TX Real Estate
Oh, My Tax Bill Went Up!
This time of year, since about February, many of us are trying to understand howand why our property taxes are going up. As many of you know, our area is really booming with new construction, new shopping and new families moving in. This all comes with progress and it is a good thing if your home value has gone up if you are thinking of selling your home here in Conroe, or The Woodlands.
The road system is improving--River Plantation residents are loving their access to both North and South I-45 directions. We do want the tax appraisal office to be realistic on these increases, though. If you have a problem with your assessed taxes on your home, maybe they don't have enough updated information, you may go down to…

Looking For Healthy Lawns? Check out these tips for Conroe and The
Woodlands
area.
"Healthier Lawns with Less Water: It IS Possible!?
You can cut your water consumption by 20% or more by just “teaching” your lawn to thrive on less water. Thanks to the deep moisture from this spring’s heavy rains, you’re off to a good start. Now, follow some helpful tips as we head into summer. Your lawn is not as thirsty as you might think. Frequent watering encourages the grass roots to spread out in the first 2 to 4 inches of topsoil, if it’s learned that’s where easy moisture will always be. However, the natural tendency of any plant is to send its roots searching deep for the moisture that is nearly always 6 to 12 inches below the surface or even deeper. If…
Staging Your Home To Sell Fast!
Many sellers ask the question, "Why should I stage my house?" Here are a lot of great reasons to put a little pizzaz in the appeal of your home, inside and out. Remember, first impressions are so important. Take a look around your home with a buyer's eye. You want all walls, base boards and doors to be clean. Are there big obstacles in the entry way? Is the entry narrow? If so add a mirror on the right wall to make it look more spacious. Don't over fill a room with furniture. Keep photos to a minimum--take them off your refrigerator! Make sure the lawn and front walkways are kept clean and get a new mat for the front door. Put large plants at the end of a room and add coordinated colors to the white rooms. The master bath, bedroom and kitchen should be… Read Full Post
Conroe, Texas Construction On The Move!
Conroe On The Move! by Linda Dayen, Keller Williams Realty, Conroe If you have your eyes open lately, you will notice all the new strip centers, buildings and new homes being built all around the Conroe/Montgomery County area. In the last 15 months a total of 1,080 permits have been issued through March of 2007 for single-home construction. With the roadways being improved and I-45 being expanded from Houston, traffic will be coming up from the south as Houston spreads out. The increased shopping on the north end of town, with the Outlet mall and the new stores on the southeast corner of I-45 and FM 3083 finds shoppers staying in the Conroe area rather than traveling in the traffic to Houston. All of these factors will bring home values up and that is a… Read Full Post
