Texas Loves Small Business!

Why? There are several reasons. Small businesses make up 98.7% of all Texas employers, they create more than 50% of American's private non-farm gross domestic product, These 2,093,400 small businesses in Texas are located in every community, 52% of them are home-based, minority-owned and women-owned businesses in Texas make up a large group, and most importantly small businesses create 60 to 80 percent of America's net new jobs. Because of many new small businesses popping up all over Montgomery County, our population is growing which stimulates our housing market. Here in my real estate office (Keller Williams Realty) we are seeing a lot of activity at the beginning of March, after the lull of the winter. Sellers are listing…

The Conroe Independent School District (which is larger than Houston's ISD) is considering recommendations to expand it's facilities by seven new campuses.The board approved recommendations from the 2008 Facilities Planning Committee during a recent board meeting. With the growth and expansion of our highways, shopping (have you looked at the FM 3083 J.C. For those of you who frequent the FM 3083 road that crosses I-45, we are all so glad that the new construction has been completed. The reopening ribbon-cutting ceremony happened on December 13, 2007, a week ahead of time. A special thank you goes to the employees of TxDOT for working diligently to see the bridge widening project (2 lanes to 5 lanes) completed in time for the Christmas season. Shoppers were excited to be able to use the very popular bridge to access the new Kohls and Pet Smart shopping center. Across the bridge on the West side, the site for the new mall is being prepared and many are waiting in anticipation of making Conroe their main shopping rather than the Woodlands Mall. The new bridge bares the name of Don Blanton Memorial Bridge in…

The Honorable Judge Saddler was our guest speaker for an area meeting recently about the incredible growth in Montgomery County, Texas.  He has been elected for 5 consecutive terms to serve our county, and really has a handle on what is happening and what is projected for our area.  Those of you who are home owners in Conroe, Montgomery, and Lake Conroe will especially appreciate knowing that He reported that we are the 26th fastest growing county in the nation and #3 in the state of Texas!  Currently, our population is 405,000 in which 24,000 people are added every year.  This is a 5-6% growth rate when many other areas of the U.S. are flat or decreasing in size.  Texas is still a very commercial-friendly state and businesses move in to an area bringing…

Independence Day Celebration!

Independence is something that we all certainly take for granted. I know that I do many times.  When the 4th of July comes around and we have family and friends over at our home we can remember what others did for us to insure that we have a safe and prosperous country.  In celebrating this occassion, our family went to the fireworks show in The Woodlands, Texas. We shopped earlier in the evening at the famous Market Square right near The Woodlands Waterway and The Woodlands Mall. I always enjoy going  here in the evening where we walk from one quaint little store to the next and eat at Tommy Bahamas or Chipoltle. The fireworks started at 9:00 p.m. and continued for at least 20-25 minutes boasting many colors and designs. The…

Monday, June 4, found 114 golfers enjoying the luscious grounds of RiverPlantation in Conroe, Texas. The noon tee time saw golfers positioned on everyone of the 18 holes ready to start their game. The homeowners who live aroundthe course waited to see them go by! They were all there with a great attitudeand a lot of enthusiasm as they participated in the day's benefit activities. Some of the "fun" holes included "Hole in One", "Longest Drive", "Closest tothe Pin" and the famous "Tire" hole. We tried to give away a car from WiesnerBuick-Pontiac-GMC-Isuzu in Conroe and a brand new golf car from Conroe GolfCars. But we couldn't give it away! Maybe next time. Oh, My Tax Bill Went Up!

     This time of year, since about February, many of us are trying to understand howand why our property taxes are going up.  As many of you know, our area is really booming with new construction, new shopping and new families moving in. This all comes with progress and it is a good thing if your home value has gone up if you are thinking of selling your home here in Conroe, or The Woodlands.
