Save Money on Florida Homeowner's Insurance

Under the "My Safe Florida Home Program" Florida homeowners stand to save some money on their homeowner's insurance premiums.  The My Safe Florida Home program was designed to help Floridian homeowners learn how to harden their homes to better protect themselves and their families from windstorm damage. By registering at the website below you can sign up for a free inspection which is valid only on single-family, site-built homes.  An certified inspector will come out to the home and conduct the windstorm inspection to see if your home qualifies for a rate reduction.  After the inspection, you will get a document via email which you submit to your insurance company.

Wind insurance incentives apply to existing houses, new houses, and rebuilt houses in Florida. "New House" refers to any house built to the new statewide Florida Building Code that went into effect on March 1, 2002.  Homeowners close to the coasts (in windborne debris regions) have potential savings in the thousands!

This windstorm inspection is FREE until July 1.  After that time there will be cost for the inspection.  A new law, SB  2860, was signed by Governor Crist requiring that beginning in 2010 houses insured by Citizens Property Insurance for more than $500,000 in the wind borne debris region MUST disclose the home's windstorm rating at the real estate closing.  This means these homeowners HAVE to complete the windstorm mitgation inspection prior to selling their homes.

If you live in Florida, take advantage of this free inspection and put some insurance money back into your pocket.  Get more information here:

Dear Lipply,

Great idea on the inspections.  It definitely helped me to get a reduction on my Florida homeowners insurance.

I wanted to make you and your clients aware of another website that I just used to save thousands on my home insurance.

It is called The Home Insurance Buyers Guide located at www.homeinsurancebuyers.org

It is not one of those quote generator websites where your phone rings off the hook and 5 agents are trying to quote you the same company.  This website tells you exactly which Florida homeowners insurance companies are still writing new business in Hillsborough County and it even tells you things like how old your home can be and how close it can be to water in order to get coverage.

Some of your clients might not want to do this, but I got quotes from all of the 25 companies still writing new business in this county and it added $2,100 to my savings after the inspection reductions.

Thanks for the helpful information on your site.

Norman
