BALDWIN PARK HONORED IN NATIONAL DESIGN COMPETITION

The National Association of Home Builders and Professional Builder magazine have honored Baldwin Park with two awards in the 2005 Best in American Living Awards program.  The Orlando development was recognized for “Best Neighborhood” and “Best Smart Growth” community.

“This old naval base evolved into a mixed-use, large-scale master planned community by carefully weaving the redeveloped portion with existing neighborhoods surrounding the old naval base,” said to the judges in selecting Baldwin Park. “Baldwin Park partnered with Audubon of Florida to help plan the parks and water edges, to create viable ecosystems where none existed. The developer also preserved and enhanced the existing mature tree canopy without being required under city regulations to do so.”

Located in the heart of Orlando, Florida, Baldwin Park, once a naval training center, is now a 1,100-acre vibrant community of residences, businesses, schools and parks. With a mix of apartments, townhomes, condominiums, cottages and custom-built homes, Baldwin Park draws residents from all walks of life. Parks and lakes cover 450 acres of Baldwin Park, nearly 40 percent of the community property.

The Best in American Living Awards are the latest in a series of recognitions Baldwin Park has garnered since 1999.  Others include awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Urban Land Institute, the National Arbor Day Foundation, and Audubon of Florida.
