Nova Scotia, Canada's second smallest province, encompasses about 21,000 square miles and is almost an island. It is connected to the remainder of the country only by the Isthmus of Chignecto. Situated  on the southeastern  coast  of Canada halfway between the Equator and the North Pole Nova Scotia enjoys a moderate climate with milder winters than most of Canada due to the effects of the Gulf Stream. Summers are cooler along the coast and warmer inland.  Nova Scotia has over 7000 kilometers of coastline ranging from spectacular beaches to rugged cliffs. With its fertile, rolling farmland, beautiful inland lakes and ample coasts Nova Scotia is an outdoor playground for sailing, golfing, fishing, hiking and site-seeing.  The  easy-going, stress-free lifestyle makes Nova Scotia a great place to live, visit, work or play. Both oceanfront and lakefront properties in Nova Scotia have become highly sought after real estate by many people from Europe and the United States as well as native 'bluenosers'.
