Marin Schools Selected As California Distinguished Schools for 2008

This week, Lu Sutton Elementary and Rancho Elementary, both in the Novato Unified School District; Ross Elementary in the Ross School District, and Bayside Elementary from the Sausalito Marin City School District were named as Distinguished Elementary Schools by the California Department of Education.
For 23 years the California Distinguished School program has recognized schools that, based on stringent federal and state criteria, exemplify excellence in education. In selecting the ‘best of the best’, factors such as the Academic Performance Index and Adequate Yearly Progress results are taken into consideration, as well as a written narrative application and thorough site validation. Winning schools represent a cross-section of communities, demographics, and organizational structure, but all represent the best of what there is in education. The selection process is rigorous and honorees can be very proud of the designation.
So, again, congratulations to the students and staffs of Novato's Lu Sutton Elementary and Rancho Elementary, Ross Elementary in Ross, and Bayside Elementary in Sausalito for a job well done. You are part of what makes Marin County one of the best places to live in California!!

Congratulations! I wonder if the curriculm there emphasizes science and math. On the other side of the country, I know we need to beef it up and not allow another generation to falter. So manyof our jobs in the US are outsourced- some because of lack of workers without the skills and other for cheap labor. Unfortunately, this all hits the housing industry and we are all suffering for the lack of a good educational requirements in this country. www.qachousingmarket.com
