Dubailand is a freehold property development currently under construction that will effectively create another city within the Emirate of Dubai entirely dedicated to leisure and entertainment. The project is being undertaken by Tatweer, a division of Dubai Holdings, also responsible for the prestigious Business Bay, and the project will feature several large sub-developments of commercial, residential, retail properties and multiple entertainment venues.
The entire Dubailand development will cover 3 billion square foot, and include 45 mega projects and 200 smaller sub-projects. There will be several phases to the project, spanning on completion from 2008 until a predicted 2015. There will be seven different areas across Dubailand, which include Attractions and Experience World, Retail and Entertainment World, Themed Leisure and Vacation World, Eco-Tourism World, Sports and Outdoor World, Downtown and Science and Planetariums.
The mixture of freehold property developments will be split between all the different regions, with the majority of properties available within Dubai Sports City, the largest property sib-development. Residents will be able to enjoy the many sporting pursuits of this region of Dubailand when complete, and this section of the development is already under construction. The project will feature properties to suit all tastes and budgets, ranging from luxury private villas at Al Kaheel and Victory Heights, to the more compact apartments within Dubai Sport City.
There are excellent retail outlets across the entire project, including several purpose-built shopping malls. Dubailand will be a first for many things, including the largest number of theme parks within one place, with such globally recognised venues like Six Flags, Paramount Studios and Universal Studios theme parks. The Sheer scope of the project will inject even more tourism into the Emirates’ already booming industry, as well as providing a greater scope of properties for the equally booming freehold real estate sector.
