It's that time of the year again for the one-of-a-kind Douglasville 28th Annual Halloween Moonlight Run taking place on October 27th. Drawing some of the fastest runners from around the country, this special Douglasville 5K event has a unique Halloween twist in that it takes place after dark. Children age 12 and under can participate in the 1 mile Fun Run which kicks off at 8:30 PM, the 5K starts at 9:00PM. Sponsored by the Douglas County Rogue Runners, the race has been chosen as the Georgia State Championship 5K again this year, taking place on the usual certified course in the Historic Downtown Douglasville district. Runners will receive a unique glow in the dark Halloween themed T-shirt. The race is also sponsored by Benchmark Homes, who are currently building new homes in Whitestone and Lyon's Landing Hangar Homes.

With over 1500 costumed participants and an estimated 3000-4000 spectators, the Annual Halloween Moonlight Run is just another reason why Douglasville residents love the special place that we call home. Pick up your race packet at the Downtown Conference Center and take part in the health fair which begins at 4:00 PM, see you there!

My children have ran this race for the past 7 years and have always loved it. This year though my 7 year old ran past us along w/ a bunch of other people. He ran back and was in about 9th place (no trophy mind you). Then all of a sudden, here comes all these people along w/ my child and two of his friends again (in almost the back of the line). When I called the parent that was at the start line w/ them he said that the first run was being called a pracite run!! How is it that you are going to make children / adults run a mile then make them run it again? They should have just done the 3k while they were at it. This time he came in tied w/ 37th place. I don't have a problem w/ the placing of my child, I have a problem w/ making them run again. We will still come and participate again next year, I just hope that everything is ran better next year.
