It's OK Officer, I'm a REALTOR®

Am I the only one who thinks that real estate agents should have some kind of special privileges to act in the best interest of the community at large? Given the fragile state of the national and local economies, you would think that civil servants who are sworn to serve and protect would support us agents as we try to turn around this housing market which some say got everyone into this mess. Not unlike EMTs, our need to travel unimpeded from one housing emergency to the next is critical. Would a doctor en route to the emergency room be hampered by authorities with frivolous things such as speeding? Surely there is no more critical a patient than the economy right now.
The point? I got two tickets last week. The first admittedly was my fault, while hurrying to meet some clients in Fairfield Plantation, I let my speed get away from me and came away with a $25 ticket courtesy of the Fairfield HOA Police. We won't discuss the speed per my constitutional right not to incriminate myself further.
The other situation was simply ridiculous, I took a listing in West Cobb County to help a friend sell quick. When I take a listing I preview every true comparable home in the neighborhood to assess the best market pricing. Cobb County's finest have a reputation in Atlanta for being a little hard-core in their enforcement techniques and they did not disappoint this time. A Cobb County officer actually gave me a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt in a subdivision while travelling between two houses less than an acre away. In this case I was really shocked that he took the time. I guess the rumors that Cobb Co. officers have been told to write every ticket they can to boost their faltering budgets may have some truth.
The funny part came later when I was relating these stories to my husband and he pointed out that the first thing out of my mouth in both cases was "It's OK officer, I'm a REALTOR®." I guess non-agents just don't understand. Ever supportive, he has offered to install a lightbar on my little Highlander. I might just take him up on it.

The tickets may not be funny MaryAnn, but the story sure is. I was able to write this after wiping the tears away from from eyes and picking myself up off the floor.

I am sorry to hear about your tickets but I ahve to admit I had a little chuckle while reading about them.
