Let's dispense with all of the media hype and doom prophecies and get down to the real numbers. Many consumers fail to realize that real estate markets are local in nature and the bubbles popping around the nation have little to do with the Douglasville real estate market which never saw the ridiculous appreciations that other markets did. The many foreclosures coming onto the market have helped to swell the inventory but have more to do with poor lender judgement than any problem with real estate.

I recently had some clients who really loved this 1950s split level,  the former home of the town doctor in a small rural West GA city. It  needed a lot of updating but was spacious and had a great deal of charm, rumored among the locals to be the best built home in the city as the old  Doc always did everything right. During the initial showing I showed  my clients the insulated ductwork in the basement which appeared to me  to be asbestos and advised them not to disturb the pipe.
