Heavenly Hana is happening

Why do I say that? Because Hana is a favored area for people that want to be away from the crowds. The most famous example is probably Oprah Winfrey. Olivia Harrison (George Harrison's wife - George passed away in 2001) also has property in Hana.
I've been looking at properties with customers in Hana lately and it's interesting to see people that like this life of seclusion. Okay, Kahului is a 2-hour (or less) drive and only about 20 minutes by airplane. Being a Honolulu resident, I am more used to driving a couple of miles and getting what I need at the big box stores. Also, work is plentiful in Honolulu. In Hana... there probably aren't so many jobs.
Hana town has a population of about 1,000 and another 2,000 or so live in the surrounding areas. Neighborhoods near Hana include Nahiku, Kaeleku and Hamoa.

Key attractions of Hana are the Hana Hotel and Hasegawa General Store. There's also the Nahiku Ti Gallery and some restaurants serving delicious local food such as coconuts, breadfruit and roast pork. Hana has a small museum too.
Note that cellphones work only so-so in Hana. At one location your phone works, a little further down the road there's no service. Be prepared and bring change for payphones in case you need to make a call.
Hana real estate is in demand by the rich and famous and others that enjoy privacy. This is one of the few places in Hawaii where it's possible to buy 50 or even 100 acres of land and have your own private paradise with mountain streams, ocean views and clean air.
