Momentum Multisport opened its doors in August, 2007. Owner Nguyen (pronounced "Wen") Le is a competitive cyclist and triathlete. His crew includes Kurt Chambers, merchandise manager and Mike "Biz" Bisig in charge of sales. Kurt is an elite triathlete with a wealth of knowledge about training, equipment and nutrition. Biz is an experienced salesperson who's worked at Performance Bike, among other stores in the mainland.

Mechanics include Tom Captis and Keith Nishimoto. If you've been around the Honolulu Tri scene for awhile, you may remember seeing Keith working at the Bike Way, which used to be located on Ward Avenue. He also worked at The Bike Shop on King Street and probably a few other places in between. Tom and Keith know their stuff when it comes to working on bikes.
Momentum Multisport's products
Momentum sells a wide variety of triathlon bikes from manufacturers such as Scott, Kuota, Look and Javelin. They also carry mountain bikes by Santa Cruz, Redline and others. I purchased a Redline "29-er" there. It's kind of like a beach cruiser with 29 inch wheels, disc brakes and nine speeds. It's a fun ride and I haven't seen a bike like this at any of the other shops in Honolulu.
Momentum also carries bike jerseys, bike shorts, helmets, running apparel and nutritional items like recovery drinks and gels. They almost always have something on sale at a good price.
Visit Momentum Multisport
Momentum Multisport is located near Waialae and 10th avenue in Kaimuki. If you're in a car (not riding your bike) and coming from downtown, take the H-1 freeway to exit 25B and turn left onto 6th Avenue. Stay on 6th Avenue until you reach Waialae Avenue, then turn right. Proceed up Waialae Avenue just past 10th Avenue and look for Momentum Multisport on the left. Turn into the driveway and there's parking behind the store.
From Hawaii Kai, take the Kalanianaole highway towards Honolulu. As the highway passes Kahala and transitions to the H-1 freeway, look for the Waialae offramp (exit 26). Drive westbound on Waialae Avenue for several blocks through Kaimuki and look for 11th Avenue (there's a 7-11 store at the corner of 11th and Waialae). Just beyond 11th Avenue, Momentum Multisport is on the right. Proceed into the driveway just past the store and park in back, or park on the street (metered parking).
Momentum Multisport is a sponsor of Team Jet Hawaii, a Honolulu triathlon club.
