This restaurant is located at 829 Kapahulu Avenue. Dee Thai has been around about a year or so. A food court was in its place prior to Dee Thai. The decoration of the restaurant's interior is... interesting. The walls are pink. Paintings appear to be traditional Thai mixed with some felt portraits that remind me of the paintings seen in Tijuana.
Parking for Dee Thai
Dee Thai does not have a parking lot. Vistors park on the street or at Bank of Hawaii's parking lot, about a block Diamond Head of the restaurant. Dee Thai has an agreement with Bank of Hawaii, so that their customers can park here in the evenings after the bank is closed. It only takes a couple of minutes to walk to Dee Thai from the bank parking lot.
Dee Thai's food
Our favorites are the Pad Thai noodles (rice noodles in sweet and sour suce with tofu and vegetables), Panang Curry (peanut curry, coconut milk and chicken) and sticky rice. We also enjoy vegetarian spring rolls as an appetizer.
Last night we tried something different, Thai Spaghetti. FYI, this does not have a tomato-based sauce. The noodles are broad (like Chow Fun) and the plate has bacon with vegetables. The dish tastes good but I like our favorites much better.
Dee Thai information
This is one of the more affordable Thai restaurants in town. We normally spend about $20 plus tip for two people. Dee Thai does not have a liquor license, diners can bring their own wines and beer to dinner here.
Dee Thai is in Kapahulu, a neighborhood in Honolulu. They're open for lunch Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For dinner, Dee Thai is open every night from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Dee Thai's phone number is (808) 735-6338.
This is the restaurant where we met Jason Scott Lee recently.
