The Fat Greek has been at 3040 Waialae Avenue since December 2007. We'd heard good things about their food. One customer who lives nearby in St. Louis Heights told me he eats lunch at the Fat Greek nearly every day! There must be something to this place.
We visited the Fat Greek and checked it out. At this restaurant, customers order and pay for their food at the cash register. They're given a small fob and take a seat. When the fob lights up customers pickup their food. The Fat Greek is BYOB, too. Parking is the biggest challenge here. There are approximately six restaurants packed into a small area with perhaps 15 parking spaces total. If we can't find a space, we park a block or two away in a residential area and walk. City Mill is across the street from The Fat Greek and they have some pay parking for $5 bucks. Some say they don't tow when people don't pay for parking - the choice is yours. I'd rather walk a block, save the $5 bucks and not take the chance of getting towed.
The Food
The Fat Greek has great food! Some of our favorites are the greek salad, hummus and falafel. We also tried the babaganoush (have you ever watched MXC?) which was very good. The photo above shows a specialty platter with greek salad, hummus, pita bread, shrimp and fries.

I have always loved The Fat Greek! Since the day they opened!!!
Like tom I also used to eat at the Olive Tree, but now I wouldn't go anywhere other than The Fat Greek for some nice yummy Greek food.
It's just simply wonderful!
Oh and I forgot to say how cheap it is!!

I just ate at The Fat Greek, and it became my new favorite place! The food is amazing, I had a falafel and my wife had the special, mm they were both delicious. It was nice too because I used to always order from the Olive tree and their falafels were always a bit dry, it's nice to have found a place to make nice ones. Along with a lot more delicious food.
