El Mariachi in Kaneohe

One night after my wife and I had watched a show at Windward Community College, we were driving around Kaneohe and thinking about getting some dinner.  We saw El Mariachi and decided to give it a try. 

This restaurant has some great authentic Mexican food, just like the sign says!  That night we had chicken burritos and tacos.  They tasted great, along with the home made chips and salsa.

Last month I was looking at homes in Kaneohe with a couple that's planning a move to Hawaii.  I asked if they'd like to get some Mexican food for lunch.  They said yes and we went to El Mariachi.

This time I had the chicken tamale.  It was tasty with a great sauce.  The couple had beef tacos, which they really enjoyed.

El Mariachi is reminiscient of the Mexican restaurants in California that serve large portions of good food at reasonable prices.   If you're a Mexican food fan, check it out when you're in Kaneohe!

Driving directions to El Mariachi in Kaneohe

El Mariachi is located at 45-1151 Kamehameha Highway.  It's near the intersection of Kamehameha (we call it "Kam") Highway and Lilipuna Road.  We'll make this a little more informative or confusing by letting you know that Lilipuna Road's name changes to Kahuhipa Street when it passes Kamehameha Highway.

Okay, that description might be too much for people that don't live in Kaneohe.  Take a look at the map below.  If you're driving on Kam Highway (830) from Kailua, take a right at Lilipuna Road, then hang a right turn into the strip mall just behind the gas station that's on the corner. 

El Mariachi's phone number is (808) 234-5893. They don't take reservations, so just head over there for a great meal!
