Rejoice! Rejoice! FAR bringing out photo server for hot-linking!
Florida holds some of the highest number of Realtors and real estate related professionals in the United States. Couple this with Multiple Listing Service organizations and you have a dizzying mess of relationships if you are a company dealing with Realtors and MLS's in Florida. Luckily, there exists one body to help streamline things a little: the Florida Association of Realtors.
They provide, in their own words "The tools you need, the advice you can count on." One key benefit is a readily available IDX strategy for web professionals like Real Estate Webmasters, or the layman. People wanting to integrate IDX content on their websites without programming can simply frame an easy to use IDX search page into their site. Those more savvy can directly download listings and listing data to display on their site. They can build a custom IDX that ranks better in search engines, can be customized to match the look of your website, and feature specific search criteria by default, like covering certain geographical areas.
But there was always a drawback to the latter method.
Because of server performance and bandwidth issues, the IDX data feed from FAR has always been limited to one single image per listing. From our experience with IDX feeds throughout the US, the more images, the better! They lead to more traffic, and more leads. The technology company behind FAR's IDX, Real Estate Industry Solutions, is rolling out a photo server for IDX data feed users to hot-link listing images, and new fields in the feed itself to help manage those hot-links.
This has been a long time coming and we thank you, FAR and Real Estate Industry Solutions, for making this happen. Stay tuned for more details as we learn them.

even better
If they had all the geo codes in the feed.

Well, the only way to get those changes is to pressure your boards. Once an MLS has something like geocodes in them, FAR just has to be informed so they can serve up those codes to IDX feeds. It will effectively require coordinating between FAR and the MLS Board, but having geocodes is the only way to go these days.

Now if we could just get them to supply an accurate address with each listing, I'd be really happy.
