FAR Photo Server Live So Change Your IDX Soon

On 26 JUL 2007 multiple IDX property photos were made available to those offices using the FAR IDX Download service. Multiple photos have been available in our framed solution since inception and now multiple photos are also available to those offices that download our IDX data for their custom websites. The solution essentially consists of a dedicated web-based photo system to which users can link to the multiple IDX property photos. Two additional columns (PHOTO_QUANTITY and PHOTO_URL) have been added to the IDX data file and all of the details of how to use this new data to access the multiple photos are included in the "IDX_ExportFileLayout.xls" spreadsheet that is included in the zip file downloaded by the user. If you are using the FAR IDX Download service, please implement this new method for accessing IDX photos as soon as possible as the current method of downloading zip files of photos will be discontinued. The specific date for the discontinuation of the photo zip FTP method will be announced at a later date. Below are the steps to retrieve your FAR IDX Download data file.
- Go to your Firm web page at http://fl.living.net/Firm/1021878.
- Click "Company Profile".
- Enter your Company ID and Password and click the "Login" button.
- Click the "IDX" button.
- Go to the "File Upload/Download" area.
- Click on Data Download and Save the file to the desired location.

Reed, I just realized that not all users will want to upgrade their photos (Although all must upgrade their databases) the reason for this is that those with single photos likely have their details pages designed to only accommodate only one photo, so it would require extra design time to adjust details pages if multiple photos are requested. Please see me before sending your mailout.
The issue with not having ANY time put into FAR projects for this update is that they are discontinuing the old method of image delivery (i.e. downloads). This has not happened yet, but will mean all new listings will have ZERO pictures when they phase out the old system.

Excellent news ! Any idea of how long it will take to upgrade each IDX? Also have the Real Estate Webmasters FAR IDX users been notified? If not, let's contact our list tomorrow as soon as we go through a dry run to figure out costing for upgrading each IDX.
