Forum Designs I Like

photo Morgan Carey

We are redesigning the REW forum, skin located at http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/forum.php?s=&styleid=13 and I am looking for inspiration - where am I looking? Other forums of course

There are a lot of vbulletin hacks etc that have come out since the inception of the REW forum and we really need to upgrade.

Here are a few forums that inspire me and why.

http://www.daniweb.com - IMO the best tech forum in the world. Dani and I are great friends and I can honestly say she is most skilled vbulletin user I have ever met. What do I like about her forum?

Sections: Syndication is a great idea, have your RSS feeds right out there for others to grab and distribute. -  Quickstats right in the nav, that is pretty cool, not a new idea, but something… Read Full Post

For those members looking for more information about the use of the member mark REALTOR in their domain name please read the following article:

First what is a member mark?
A membership mark is much like a "Trademark" however it differs in the sense that a group or affiliation holds said trademark as opposed to an individual or corporation. The term "REALTOR" (Also displayed below) is a membership mark held by the "National Association of Realtors NAR

Layout I Like In Terms Of Pages

photo Morgan Carey

I really like the way this page is layed out - http://dev95.rewdev.com/company/ I am viewing it on my laptop and the placement seems really sharp.

I really like how the contact box is pushed down by the element containing our office picture. In fact I like the pics of the staff to, I think that sort of thing would be good for testimonials or case studies pages. Take pics of the clients and format them so that they are clickable for testimonials or something. Read Full Post

Still No Photos For The Featured Listings

photo Morgan Carey

Although the basic backend seems to be working for the listings feature of the REW blogs there is still no app for uploading images for the listings from your computer.

I am thinking I am going to use a flash slideshow for these listings so that it jazzes up the pages a little more, also we need to integrate the mortgage calculator, map of property and enquire functions directly into the system - finally we have to dynmically attach the enquire forms to the listings so that it populates a "Please send me information on property xyz" and sends to the email address on file for the blog user.

Users make sure you sign up with an email address that you check often. Read Full Post

Socal MLS - Southern California Multiple Listings Service

photo Morgan Carey

One of our first 10 MLS feeds the SOCAL MLS is actually quite easy for an agent to apply for, however SOCAL is notorious for changing their datafeeds without notice causing vendors such as us with some annoying recoding issues on a constant basis, this also causes downtime for our clients and frustration each time they change something as they have to pay for time to adjust for the changes SOCAL is constantly making.

You can view a few of our custom SOCAL MLS IDX clients at
