The City Of San Leandro First Time Buyer Programs

The City of San Leandro has contracted the BAHBA (Bay Area Home Buyers Agency) to help provide opportunities for first time home buyers in the Bay Area. Currently there are five to ten households per month getting approved for one of the various first time buyer financing programs, incentives and subsidies offered through the City of San Leandro. There are first time home buying seminars held twice a month to educate consumers about the home buying process.

Interest rates are still low and inventory is high, which means there are more opportunities for buyers than in previous years. There are incentives and subsidies being provided by the city, county and the some of the developers that can end up providing up to $150,000 in assistance.

Our mother passed away 4 months ago. I'm going to need a loan so that I can buy my sister & brother out. All of our names are on the deed of the family home. I don't know the first thing about real estate but I have found out because my name is on the trust & deed, that it should be pretty simple. I'd like to clean my credit up being that I should be able to begin the process in the next month or so. What do you suggest I do? Please help!

Lucy, First of all I'm sorry for your loss. I'd like to talk to you to get some more details of your situation, but I suggest you get in touch with a mortgage professional to begin the process of getting a loan. Have you agreed on a price already with your sister and brother? Give me a call @510-384-9424 so we can discuss your situation, I can refer you to a mortgage professional to assess your situation and we can go from there.

I can afford a house in the $175,000 range.  It will be my first home.  Which East Bay city has the best first-time home owners program?  Ideally, I'd like to stay as close to SF as possible.  Not crazy about Oakland but willing to consider.  Also willing to consider San Leandro and Berkeley.
