Jupiter Invasion - Annual Jupiter Kite Boarding Contest

This weekend is the Annual Jupiter Kite Surfing Contest.  Saturday afternoon I was able to stop by and capture some of the action with my camera.  There are contestants from all across the world at the event and it was a great day for the event.

There were Kites everywhere  - the challenge for the Kiters was not to collide with others!

One of my favorite shots of the day.

Another favorite - this guy was in the air all the time!

Going up -it is amazing how quickly they can recover and be back in the air.

This guy came off his board - I missed the splash:)

All this and he stayed up!

Another of my favorites from Saturday's Jupiter event.

You can see how close these 4 kite surfers are...

Sometimes the board gets away.

The resulting landing - a crowd pleaser!

Walking back up the beach at the end of the day!

Hope you enjoy

Nice pictures. Looks like someone owns a telephoto lens

I had hoped to be able to take more photos today. The weather did not cooperate. Mike, Yes - I have a Cannon DSLR with a 70-200m lens and also a 300mm fixed lens. I used both for the photos.

When I went to Brighton, England last may, I stayed in a little town for a while called Lancing. We stayed in a flat on the waterfront with an amazing view of the English Channel. Kite Boarding is HUGE there! I couldn't believe a lot of the moves these guys were doing... And the air they got was unbelievable. If I stayed for long enough, I would have tried it.
