Although the water is safe to drink, the continued algae growth is making water treatment more expensive.  Protection of the Lake Whatcom watershed is one of the most important issues facing the our county.  Steps to save the watershed must include aggressive storm water treatment, protecting undeveloped land in the watershed, and educating residents on becoming better stewards of the lake. 

Lake Whatcom has and will always be one of the best locations for housing in our county.  The quality of homes and the views from waterfront lots are second to none in our state.  Limited growth around the lake has kept the inventory of Lake Whatcom Homes for sale low and the prices rising.  Bellingham Waterfront Homes will be one of the fastest appreciating properties in the state.
