In January 2012 work commenced on updating the beach area. This involved ripping up the existing promenade and replacing it with a new one. Although the initial task of diiging up what was already there went to plan, problems were then apparently encountered with the contractors, so that instead of being completed by May 1, the date has been put back to around the first week in June. The big news recently for those already living here and those of thinking of doing so is that as from last April 1st residents permits have dropped dramatically in price for UK passport holders. A few years ago the cost was £200 a year and then it jumped to £370, prompting many to instead opt for a trip to the Greek island of Kos every 90 days to get a visitor’s visa as this also worked out at about £200 a year.
