According to th Greenville News (April 13, 2008), Federal data for job growth show that between February 2007 and February 2008 Greenville job growth grew by 9,000 or 2.9 percent to 321,400. This is the fourth best growth rate in the country with work forces of 200,000 or more.
Greenville's employment rate during the same period was five times the national average. As the Greenville News (Sunday April 30th) states, this makes Greenville "one of the top performing metros in the country in a pretty tough market," quoted Ross Moore, a research director for Boston-based Colliers International (a global commercial real estate brokerage).
This job growth has been one of key supporting factors of the for Greater Greenville South Carolina Real Estate Market. The market here has seen consistant, yet reasonable growth rates between 2-5% per year over the past 5 years.
The market here has not overextended itself in appreciation gains and continues to do well despite national slow downs. The foreclosure rates here in Greenville have also been shown to be some of the lowest in the country.
