The Cliffs Communities' Organic Gardens

As I mentioned in my last post, the Cliffs Communities staff invited us up for a grand tour of some of their world class facilities and amenities.  In the above picture, the Open House Realty group is getting a tour of the Cliffs Organic Gardens.  The food and herbs grown here are used to prepare meals at the various Cliffs Clubhouses.

Several green houses are used for organic growing during the winter of various vegetables and herbs. During spring, summer, and fall the surrounding acreage is used for growing. The gardens are truly organic with no pesticidies or synthetic fertilizers being used. Natural pesticide-like-sprays are made using garlic and other potent herbs.  A dried alfalfa powder is used for fertilizer, amongst other natural means.

I am extremely excited to see the Cliffs focusing on sustainable organic farming. It has been proven that  fruits and vegetables grown organically contain more nutrition than conventional farming methods and obviously contain less toxic pesticides.
