I Brake for Rabbits

Living in the Pocono Mountains offers a great many things.  One of which is the abundant wildlife.  Never a day goes by that you don't see one of natures creatures frolicking about and enjoying his day.  Unfortunately, in most occasions that particular display of wild beauty is usually near or on a roadway.

I have trained my self, and conditioned my driving skills to be an expert at avoiding shortening the life of the unwary animal that should happen to cross my path.  I slow and swerve for frogs and mice, break hard for rabbits and squirrels, and come to skidding halts for deer.  But I have to admit, my weakest moment is the occasional turtle trying to desperately cross the white line and make his slow trek to the other side.

Ever since I got my drivers license I have had a weak spot for turtles crossing roads. I have been known to stop traffic, in both directions, to save the weary and slow reptilian traveler.

The other day I was out with a client showing her some beautiful Pocono real estate and during our travels I rounded a corner and came across what I would call the slowest moving turtle I have seen to date.  My brain told me to stay on course and let god handle the fate of this turtle but my heart just wouldn't let me do it.  So I come to a frenzied halt in the middle of the road, flung the door open and raced to the rescue of this innocent slow moving gift of nature.

Upon reentry of the car I wasn't quite sure how my client would react to my sudden life saving effort.  But in the end she thought it was a very kind and genuine effort and I do think deep down that kind of individuality and being yourself far out ways the robotic day to day routines you are used to and can certainly strengthen the report you have with your clients.

Be yourself, let your wonderful unique personality shine through everyday, be true to your belief system and watch your client/agent relationship soar!

If your clients questioned you saving an animal, I almost think that they wouldn't be worth working with Good job though! Not many people would have done that!

I love it. In Wilmington, flocks of large duck-type birds cross the roads. Traffic always stops for them. But a couple years back, someone did not. A row of baby chicks were found smashed across S College. It was heartbreaking. The paper covered it and the public was outraged.

Aye. Some people. Last month, I was driving around with a friend in a fairly "Wooded" area of town. Wild turkeys roam around and sometimes wander on to the streets. My friend made a couple jokes about hitting one of them and swerved a couple of times as a joke... At the last minute, before one could get out of the way, he purposely hit it. Needless to say, I don't hang around with him anymore.
