The Environment and Social Responsibility

Social and environmental responsibility is a buzz topic these days, something we are all exposed to through marketing here in North America.  You can't help but see green coloured packaging, advertisements and communications everywhere.  What I have not seen to date is a community, village, town, city or otherwise, that has stepped up and commited to only building homes that conform to a respectable environmental standard.  Because whats good for the environment is good for the social setting.

What is Your Community Like?

Here is where you all come in - I would love to hear feedback about programs like this in your neck of the woods.  Heck, I hope we have some comments that open my eyes to communities that have adopted an environmentally friendly plan for all new building.  Feel free to chime in and provide any and all information you like, hopefully including the following:

• Community Name
• Location (State, Province, etc.)
• Environmental Standard(s) in place
• When the change occurred
• Your thoughts, feelings and other information

Closing Thoughts 

One last thing to ponder, how long will it be before an environmental standard is adopted that promotes reduced consumption instead of efficient consumption? Abstinence is the ultimate efficiency at 100%.
