Welcome to the Lighter Side of REW

Something New for our Community Members

Welcome to what will be known as the Lighter Side of Real Estate Webmasters.  This concept is the brain-child of a few dedicated, interesting and bored (kidding!) staff members that were looking for a way to stretch their limbs.  After all, we can't all be like Gerry and create helpful, useful tutorials for REW products and technology... shame on you Gerry. Now that I have seen it... what the h@ll is it?

Well, in a nutshell, anything and everything that is pop culture and remotely interesting.  Possibly not even interesting.  Every entry that is part of the Lighter Side of REW will not be for everyone, so don't go expecting the sun, moon and stars each week.  The sucker of the week, and when I type "sucker" I mean "author", will either 'wow' you or fall flat on her/his face.  Hard.

Each week.  Thats right, a weekly committment.   Will we stick to it? Yes (a lot no).  Will there be updated posts... you betcha.

Innovation - and good use of bad time.

We are going to try to take a different look at regular, every day events or occurences.  Don't be surprised if there are some references to Seinfeld-like story lines or other popular shows we can lean on.  No ground-breaking articles, poor use of punctation and a complete mangling of grammar.

We will try to write in English.

This group is also close to guaranteeing that each post will most certainly throw your concentration, and work flow, for a loop.  If you are mad, let us know.  If you had a laugh, let us know.  If your favourite beverage comes shooting out of your nostrils while reading the article, you better let us know! Disclaimer: we recommend avoiding hot beverages while visiting the Lighter Side of REW and are not liable for burnt nasal passages, or anything else you choose to do with your coffee.

Do you have a topic you want poorly researched and written about?

Bring it to our attention, comments are a great way to do this.  Get crazy, be rational - whatever works for you at the time.  Lets agree to keep this clean of course, the idea is to stretch our bounds of thought and not drag ourselves through the gutter.  Heck, I admit to enjoying a few too many laughs in the gutter... but will avoid any and all of that here.

Thats what PMs and e-mail are for...

That first topic

I am open to suggestions but can guarantee that the charter post topic has already been decided upon.  Executive decision, you know how it works.  The beans could be spilt right here but I won't do that.  Not because I don't want to... its complicated.  Okay, about as complicated as I haven't finished writing the post and saying anything about it right now would, well, not be funny.  Or interesting.

So, see you back here sometime later this week.

WOOHOO! Sounds like fun.

I can't wait to write about all of the senior managers' most annoying habits, and ways for clients to bypass our processes to get special attention!

I thought you were a senior manager Gerry! Thanks for the picture tutorial I could have used it in the past many times.

Fun is good.  Looking forward to interpreting all the allegorical references to clients, management and proceedures.

Quote, "We will try to write in English."  I was actually hoping you would write in Canadian.

Thinking I am seriously overusing smiley faces.  Bring on the fun.

Carolyn, you got it.  One ultra-Canadian post will be making an appearance on the Lighter Side of REW before Christmas.  If we can give you anything, its Canadiana - West Coast, that is.

You can never overuse smiley faces... I am sure you hardly noticed them in that last sentence.

Make sure you pack that Canadian post full of words that we like to add "U"s in. Make it as colourful as possible.. it's bound to be a favourite.

@ Nick -- clients, and e-mail spell-checkers alike, give me nothing but grief when it comes to words like "neighbourhood" or "labour".  Lets see if we can't make a Top 20 list, eh?
