Social Networking Gaining Speed in Tampa Real Estate Market

Interesting article just published in one of the magazines I get from being a member of the Florida Association of Realtors.  The data was put together by the National Association of Realtors for the Florida Association of Realtors (say that 10 times fast).  Anyway, I am a huge advocate of Social Networking which most of you already know.  I Blog, Vlog, have accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Myspace, etc and most of that works for me automatically with some maintenance on a weekly basis.  Being in the Tampa Real Estate Market, which seems to be fairly competitive, it takes these added tools to stay on top of my game.

Anyway, NAR created a profile of 2007 buyers in the Florida Market and found that 38% of buyers found their home thru the use of Social Networking sites.  In addition, of the 18-24 age range of Buyer (this is someone who actually bought a home), 76% used Social Networking to find a home....WOW!  Those numbers are huge and will only get bigger as these venues increase in size and popularity.  So lets look at that, Hillsborough County had 12,389 sales last year and 38% of that was 4,879 homes...sold thru Social Networking...now how exactly they were shopping thru these networks, I am not positive as it does not go into that level of detail, but the mere fact that it is mentioned with these numbers attached should make any Real Estate Agent think twice about whether this is for kids anymore!
