The Future of Real Estate - As One Realtor Sees It
Posted May 20, 2008 @ 7:19 am, Viewed by 441 Visitors, Read 460 Times.People often ask me what I think about the Tampa Real Estate market and what I think the future of Real Estate is going to be. It's easy for me to come up with some sophisticated Real Estate scenario, Virtual Homes, Virtual Open Houses, Virtual Brokers Open, Virtual this, Virtual that. Virtual Tours will be replaced by Video Tours, will be replaced by 3-D Tours. I believe that Real Estate is moving into a new era of combining sophisticated computer software, and Real Estate Sales. Maybe the Realtor of the Future will need to be a Software Salesman, or maybe a Webmaster Guru. Whatever the future holds, I believe that Technology and Real Estate are coming to a collision point. It's easy for me to say this because I have an engineering mind and would love to see this happen...whether it does or not is another story.
So here are my prediction in the next 5 years:
- Buyers will rely more heavily on computer software to evaluate a home (virtual open house, virtual home)
- Buyers and Sellers will no longer meet at a Title Company or Attys office and most of the closing will be done via online Video and online Transaction management
- Realtors will be able to monitor in real time any and all inquires regarding a property (yes, Realtors will still be needed)
- Buyers will be able to place all of their furniture, change colors and check out the growth of vegetation around the property and how it will look over the years
- Buyers will buy more homes without even stepping in the front door!
These are just a few of my predictions...only time will tell if they will come true of not but I have seen some of these ideas/concepts on the horizons...what do you think the future holds...and are you ready for it?

This is good observation. The internet industry is influencing every industry especially real estate. I know it has definitely affected the market in Cedar City Utah. Everyone wants to look at your home on the internet first to do their research. But still people will want to physically go through the property after they have watched the video tours of some houses.

Interesting ideas Robert. I like your predictions and feel the you are probably right on most of these. Because of the necessary people skills and expertise involved in a real estate transaction, I don't the real estate agent being replaced either.
