Un-Tethered from a Wired World...Oh the Anxiety

I just got back from a 3 day vacation (can really only take short spurts of disconnect) and I must say that I felt like a coffee addict on Decaf for those 3 days.  My wife and I work in the Tampa Real Estate Market.  I went to the beach with my wife and stayed right on the water...20 steps to the sand.  When I booked the room, I ordered what they call the "Resort Convenience" package.  This pays for a number of things, and also gives you access to business services.  Great, "Does that include Internet"..."Yes".  Ok, so I pack my laptop, my wife packs her's, along with an assortment of other electronic devices, and off we go.

The beach was beautiful, the water was warm and wonderful, and the sand and sun were very relaxing.  No, I did not carry any devices to the beach...I have had my share of fun with sand and electronics...not fun.  So now I get back to the room and fire up the laptop to check my email...no wireless...what the hell is going on.  Ok, I call the front desk, and they tell me that the business services are in this room off the area we checked in.  I thought, that doesn't seem very "Convenient" as the package indicates.  So, I go to the room, which basically has 2 computers and a printer.  Well, my email is thru outlook and not Internet based...I get the tech guy down to help me connect the computer up, after about 5 minutes and a cocky IT guy (they are all cocky for some reason), I am up and running.  I start to download my email, 175 to be exact and it is very very slow.  I wait for about 15 minutes to get them all...again, not very convenient.  Now I am starting to get jittery because I know I can't do this every day...it will drive me crazy.

I immediately switch over to my iphone...activate my email account to get it on the phone, and feel a little more confortable...hopefully I wont have to make any large text responses...turns out I didn't.  All in all, I, during my wonderful stay on the beach with my wife, negotiated 2 contracts, organized 2 closings, took care of 3 showings, and routed paperwork for 2 inspections to the appropriate people...all with my trusty IPhone.

I got home from a terrific stay at the beach, downloaded my 403 emails that were left, responded to everything I needed to, an now I am going back to sleep.

Boy..this vacation stuff is really tiring!
