Are you using Twitter for your Business and if Not, Why the Hell Aren't Your?

Twitter is taking the net by storm, in my opinion.  I, like most everybody that started out with signing up for a twitter account, ended up abandoning it after a few weeks because we just "didn't get it".  Well, 6 months passed and I thought I would take another look at it and BAM, I started to see the genius in it.  I think the thing that confused me was the "What are you doing" question.  Who really cared about what the hell I was doing, Oh yah, I am watching Ghost Hunters, or I am sitting in my chair now, or, I am watching my dog poop in the yard.  Did people really care about this crap.  I figured the answer was a big fat "NO" so I moved on and just assumed that twitter was something for the sub 20 year olds that use txt messaging to go back and forth about nothing.

But something happened, I removed the words "What are you doing now" and replaced them with "Here's what I got to say" and viola, now I can share all sorts of information with people.  I can tell followers about my new blog post, or tell them about a great restaurant I just went to, or maybe even tell them about some great Real Estate Investment I just came across.  Whatever I choose to share, I will get some people in my stream to click on the links that I share because they have an interest in what I say.

The Stream you say, what is the Stream.  Let me backtrack for a Second.  Twitter is considered a Micro Blog, allowing you to use only 140 characters.  It turns out that scientists have determined that the reason people find Twitter fascinating, is because the human brain organizes thought in the same manner.  Enough about that, back to Twitter.  The stream is the group of people that are following your "tweets", what it is that you are saying.

Twitter, in my opinion, is the most powerful Social Networking transport there is today, hands down.  And with all the additional addon's to Twitter, it makes the Network even more efficient.  Twitter is an awesome tool and I use it daily.  And if you are not signed up for it yet, you are really missing out.

You can sign up for twitter at www.Twitter.com.  And if you like, you can follow me at www.Twitter.com/rmasse10.

Jump on in the water is fine...technology is fun, don't let it run you, you need to run it.

Robert,

Do you find that most people following you on Twitter are other Realtors? Do any clients follow you?

I have alot of other Realtors that follow me, and I have alot of non realtors that follow me...it really all depends

Most of my clients are not following me, but a lot of future clients are.

Thanks for this valuable information.  I could NOT for the life of me figure out the attraction to Twitter...but now I get it.  I'm following you now on Twitter, by the way.  I hope to learn how to make it work.   LOL.

Hey Scott, I know exactly what you mean!

Hello EastCobbAgent, Twitter makes sense the more you use it...just dont give up and continue following people and watch what they do, you dont need to reinvent the wheel...it will make sense over time but you are on your way...thanks for the follow

nicely said.  It's one of those things you have to "jump into" and as you put it you begin to see the genius of it.  Even the founders originally ignored it at first and after it took off began to put more energy into it.  It's surprisingly simple, but not necessarily so.  My son's swears by facebook and claims it's just a better "twitter" but not so.  They are completely different animals.  Describing the differences is tough, since twitter is evolving so rapidly.  It'll be nice to see where it goes.
