Social Media is Personal...So Tread Lightly

Anybody that thinks that you can go out there in the Social Media World, post a few notes, add a few friends, upload a few photos, comment on a few peoples wall, and then "UNFRIEND SOMEONE" and they find out, they are not gonna take it too lightly. I have been involved in Social Media for a few years now and feel I have a pretty good handle on things. I don't take anything to heart, you unfriend me, no problem, I just do it back, nuff said. But a few of my friends, who do not completely understand this arena well, can get extremely irate at another. This happened just the other day with 2 people I will leave nameless. One person unfriended the other in Facebook and a few other Networks and person 2 found out. At that point, person 2 "called out" person 1 by name on Facebook as a sort of challenge as well as a call out in Twitter with a tweet back to them to make sure they knew what was done.
Well, I am friends with person 2, and thought I was friends with person 1, which unfriended me as well, but didn't really care all that much, like I said, I don't take it to heart. Well, needless to say, person 1 and 2 are in a bit of a battle right now although person 1 is in a position where they can't really say a hell of a lot due to their work position but person 2 can pretty much say whatever they want.
Long story short, the battle I fear is not over. How this drama will turn out is anybody's guess. I would guess that after a bit of time, things will pass, but not be forgotten. A friendship destroyed over a push of a button. This just goes to show you how serious people take Social Networking today. So if you are feeling that you are about to UnFriend someone, think twice before you hit that button, you may regret it!

Sorry you got caught in two people bickering - maybe after a little time passes they will both realize that whatever caused it was silly and everyone can go back to being friends.
Nahhh Carolyn, its not gonna happen. Person 2 was looking for a reason and person 1 gave it to him. It has been a long time coming. Unfriending is kind of like calling someone a name to their face...it really depends on the individual as to how they will react. Person 1 really picked the wrong person to do that to, I am afraid, and it will have long lasting effects.

That's pretty funny...but true. I suppose I don't take it hard... because after all....just how many friends...are friends. We find out by that push of a button when flaring nostrils and pounding keyboards become rampant. lol.
