Welcome, John’s Creek and Milton

Midnight December 1st, John’s Creek and Milton officially became cities in North Fulton County. John’s Creek, which lies geographically to the east of Alpharetta and Milton to the west of Alpharetta and north of Roswell, passed the final hurdle earlier this year when residents of the unincorporated areas voted overwhelmingly to form new cities rather than to be annexed into the City of Roswell. Remaining residents in small pockets of North Fulton petitioned for and were granted annexation by the cities of Alpharetta and Roswell to complete the stated desire of Fulton County to eliminate all unincorporated areas.
 
Legislation is already being drafted for the next legislative session in Georgia to change the state constitution to allow for an additional county to be allowed in the state. The desire of many residents and representatives of North Fulton County is to cede entirely from Fulton County and reform Milton County to include the cities of Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, John’s Creek and Milton. Milton County merged with Fulton County during the Great Depression. The desire to reform Milton County stems around dispersion of tax dollars that are generated by North Fulton that are redistributed in a way that many do not feel is fair.
