Cone Zone Update

It occurred to me as I was traveling along Center Road on my way home from a listing appointment the other night that the road was almost completely paved in all lanes going both directions and that it was a very pleasant ride, and with that in mind, I took a right at Jacaranda and drove the newly finished Border Road project.  Which brings me to the subject for this post...an update on our local CONE ZONES.  We have some good news and some not-so-good news when it comes to our local road construction projects currently underway...

...first the good news:

• Center Road - As I indicated above, the Center Road project is entering the final phase, which includes intermittent lane shifts to complete curb work and some drain work, specifically at the Jacaranda and Venice East intersections. This project, begun in October 2005 looks to be completed by this coming April.  Not only does this road have a wonderful look and feel with its landscaped medians and 4 foot bicycle lanes, but it now becomes a very convenient alternative when motoring about town.
• Border Road - COMPLETED!  The  Border Road project in Venice is now complete and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held last week. With its decorative lights, spacious sidewalks, bike lanes and landscaped medians, it too becomes a welcome addition to our area roadways. 
• Route 41/Tamiami Trail in Nokomis - alas, not all of the news is good, the contractor has asked for an 80 day extension to complete his project, which will push the projected completion to the beginning of 2008.
