The Google Phone
Posted Sep 23, 2008 @ 1:09 pm, Viewed by 578 Visitors, Read 592 Times.Got your iPhone? Cool, you can keep it. Although I am very excited to see that the iPhone has been pushing what cell phones can do. The blurring of the line between a cell phone and a pocket computers is a good thing for consumers. Especially a tech hungry one, like myself. When I first read that Google was working on a software platform for a cellphone, I was giddy. Sure the iPhone has an SDK that people can use and you can buy apps via iTunes, but that is nothing compared to what the open source community can do with a solid operating system. Given Google's track record, I can only assume that they have gotten this right as well. Hopefully I'm right. Yahoo just posted an article about the release of the phone with T-mobile. The only downfall to the phone. I'm sure it won't be long though before the phone hits other operators. Check otu what Yahoo! has to say below.

Its the apps that make the phone...time will tell how well te gphone competes with the iphone. Either way, the consumers turn out to be the winner in this because it creates competition between the two! I look forward to the benefits of iphone competition

The new G-Phone seems like an interesting cross between an i-phone and a blackberry/ treo. It will be interesting to see if consumers take to this new phone. I agree that having it availble only on t-mobile seems like weakness. It will be interesting to see how the real estate industry reacts to more and more cosumers using there phones for gathering information.
