Lights Out... pick up a book? YES!

Last week most of the Greater Louisville area was without power. Where I live, we were without power for a little over 5 days. No TV, no computer, no lights. We did cheat and run a generator for the refridgerator. What I learned? I found myself going to bed earlier for one thing. I also returned to one of my first loves, reading! I spend a lot of time reading online, but a lot of that is work related. This was reading just for the sheer fun of it. If anyone is a fan of James Patterson, I suggest you look into another author named Harlan Coben. Last week I read about 1500 pages, across 3 books. My favorite being The Woods. I'm now working on my fourth book by Mr. Coben titled "Gone for Good" -- so far it is just as good as the first 3.
I had forgotten how relaxing reading can be. The TV is mindless, it is entertaining, but it doesn't spark the creative juices. You don't put together mental images in your head from the page, you just process what you see. Read a book, it's good for you :)
