We’ve all heard of people having funny names that allow for others to make jokes at their expense. Classic examples are “Harry Butts” and “Barb Wire,” but list goes on and on. Normally, I wouldn’t even bother with a joke or even give it a second thought when running into someone with a name that’s all too humorous; however, when I happen to see someone working in the real estate profession with this type of “problem,” I can’t help but pay closer attention. Given that a real estate agent must make himself as public and noticeable as possible in order to have success in this business, I can assume that having one of those awkward names such as “Bill Lowney” or “Andy Semite” might make potential clients a bit uncomfortable, right? But I guess on the other hand, if I see an open house sign reading “Ty Lenol” as the agent hosting the event, there’s probably a pretty good chance I’ll remember who to call if I want additional information on the property. So, maybe there are some positive aspects to having a funny, yet memorable, name when working the real estate industry! In any case, as I was scanning the internet while doing a little research on the real estate market down South, I came across a web site that caught my attention; but not because of its thorough market reports or extensive information that may pique my interest. Instead, I found a web site for the local real estate office of Dover Realty. In case you aren’t familiar with the company, Dover Realty is located in the fine town of Jackson, Georgia and looks like a boutique agency that has “specialized in lake property for over 34 years.” And after reviewing their web site for a minute or two, there’s no doubt I’d be contacting this seemingly very knowledgeable company if I happened to be in the market for a nice getaway home on Lake Jackson or High Falls Lake. So exactly who would I contact if that were the case? None other than Ben Dover, the managing Broker at Dover Realty. Of course, “Ben Dover” is one of those interesting names I was discussing above, but that isn’t the only reason this site caught my eye. It turns out that not only does Mr. Ben Dover conduct business in Jackson, Georgia, but he also specializes in real estate across the entire Butts County region. That’s right, Ben Dover of Butts County. Don’t believe me? Check it out here: http://www.doverrealty.com/agents.html. If you can’t find humor in a funny name that’s complimented by one’s geographic location, I guess I just wasted 5 minutes of the very serious lifestyle you happen to lead and I’ll apologize now. But if you’re like me, how can you not be amused by the irony of where Ben Dover chose to settle down?
