Content Thievery.
Posted Jan 26, 2007 @ 3:29 pm, Viewed by 643 Visitors, Read 643 Times.1. You could go to one of your main traffic pages and copy a sentence of your choice. Go to Google.com and place it in the search box with quotations. Search it and see what comes up. If something comes up that isn't your site, chances are they have stolen some content from you.
2. The second method is actually a website: http://www.copyscape.com/ I'll have to give Judy Orr credit for this one. I found it through her. What you do is go to that site, type in your URL and it will scour the web for sites that have duplicate content. It's pretty amazing.
Once you find someone who has stolen content from you, the best thing to do is probably contact Google through their "Report Spam" page. You may also want to take a screenshot of the page, just in case. Anyway, hope this helps.

That's a good method... But can't they just say they wrote it first? Is there a way to check who wrote what and when?
I've only had someone steal my page content once. (Most of the time, people post my articles w/o crediting me - which I deal with differently.) Anyways, when I called the guy, it was very obvious that he took it, and probably didn't realize it was that big of a deal. I was very nice to him & he politely removed the content. I'm sure that, if someone did want to argue, you could somehow prove it - but I don't know how.
Having complete confidence in what you're saying probably helps. Though some people have no conscience... I'd imagine it would be fairly difficult to get them to admit anything.

I've found that the most effective way to get the stolen content removed is to find their phone number & call them. This really removes the "anonimity" of the internet.
