$8,000 Federal Tax Credit Deadline Quickly Approaching

In order to take advantage of the $8,000 federal tax credit, you must have closed on your home purchase by no later than November 30, 2009. This tax credit is applicable to "first time home buyers" which means someone that is purchasing a primary residence for the very first time OR someone who has not owned a primary residence for the past 3 year period prior to purchase.
I was recently working with a family who has been renting our their primary residence for appx 3 years. I suggested that they contact their CPA to see if they would be considered as a "first time home buyer." They were just shy about a month, so we waited until that 3 year time frame hit and then went out home shopping. What a GREAT idea!
