Why should I get involved in local community groups or charity work?

There was never a more accurate statement made than when it was said " you harvest what you Plant or (Reap what you Sow)". Especially when you are talking about community involvement in a tight community group. As Realtors we are in a position where the opinion of the people in our area can have a significant effect on our overall income.
I find it advantageous to provide "FREE" services to non profit community organizations or local government when it is easily within my power to do so. There is a definate light at the end of the tunnel for the Realtor who makes an impression on their community which indicates that it is not ALL about money. People become more at ease in their approach and the feelings they have of you are not always felt for the other Realtors in the area.
Some of the best paying things I have done in my life (in retrospect) turned out to have been those which I did with no expectation of return in any sense other than good will. Aside from the strictly business motivation, there is the simple fact that you are out among the people getting seen, making friends and talking to individuals you would otherwise not neccesarilly have had the opportunity to interact with.
Social interaction through volunteering helps us to accept people as they are and better deal with a wide variety of personallity types, in short we may be better adjusted individuals who know how to play nice in the sandbox of life.
Have a Great Day!
