The Native American Heritage Center recognizes the intertribal cultures of the Kennewick Wa area. The Centre acts as a dramatic and sincere tribute to the spirit of Native Americans in the Columbia Basin area. Their contribution to the history of Washington State is highlighted and celebrated.

The Native American Heritage Center provides in-depth details on of Kennewick Man. The skeletal remains were found in Eastern Washington in 1996 and have since been relocated to
the Burke museum for study of their origin. Information is presented at the Center about the ongoing lawsuit between the federal government and a group of North American scholars and tribal groups as to the true ownership of the fossil. The Native American Heritage Center of Kennewick is recognized as being one of the finest tribal museums in the state of Washington. The Centre provides a wealth of information to students and researchers who are keen to work toward preserving the language, arts and other artifacts of this unique cultural group. The housed stone and bone tools of the Columbia Basin region inform modern day scholars and journalists about the Indians who lived along the Columbia, Snake, Palouse and Walla Walla
rivers. Many of the artifacts are dated from 200 to 12,000 years.
Many of the showcases provide interpretative displays that enable first hand observation of how tools and other implements were sought, made and used. There are also in-depth explanations of the meaning of these artifacts in relation to the socio-cultural values of the Native Americans. As well as explanations as to how the implements reflect the individuality of their maker.
