Pasco Washington and Christmas Lights

Pasco Washington ~ Christmas Lights. 

Desert Plateau district is set to light up this Christmas season. For the past 21 years, residents have created a display of over 28,000 star-like lights to adorn the streets of their neighborhood. Candles are placed in paper bags that are weighted by sand, the effect is “like a big runway” says the coordinator Larry Brockman.

The luminary event has its planning begin in the summer of the year previous – a massive effort of coordination is required to see that all goes as expected. For drivers-by and passers-by the luminance is an awesome sight, and can be seen from Interstate 182 and Argent Road. And Roads 36 and 44 will take visitors through the actual neighborhoods of Pasco Wa.

While the event is a fun and community activity for residents across the entire Tri-City area, for some it is a time of “rush and responsibility” as they volunteer to be block captains that distribute the actual bags and candles to households. Each household who chooses to participate contributes $9 to cover the costs.
