7 Rules For Landing Page Optimization

photo Spoken Gently

For real estate agents looking for page optimization, this is a great read I found here. I left the links intact, as they are great reads as well.

This is by no means a definitive look at what matters on landing pages. There are more than seven rules. For additional insight I would direct you to this three-part series on Landing Page Optimization. However, these seven basic elements are ones I’ve used consistently for many years now with great results.

 1. Have a Clear and Direct Headline
Your landing pages should designed so the headline is first thing a user sees upon landing. First impressions on landing pages are as important as the offline world. Make sure the headline is a direct and simple statement of what the user is trying to accomplish. The…

101 Ways To Build Link Popularity

photo Spoken Gently

A great read on developing inbound links...

By Andy Hagans and Aaron Wall.

Link Building... Time-intensive. Frustrating. Sometimes confusing. Yet Unavoidable. Because ultimately, it's still the trump card for higher rankings.

Many of us have been hoping that it would go away. In Brett Tabke's 5/18 Robots text entry, he echoed a sentiment that many, many webmasters hold on to as a hope:

What happens to all those Wavers that think "Getting Links = SEO" when that majority of the Google algo is devalued in various ways? Wavers built their fortunes on "links=seo". When that goes away, the Wavers have zero to hold on to.

The pertinent questions:

Will link building still be very important for rankings in the medium term?
When will link popularity be…

Mountain Of Mystery: Mt Hood As Viewed From Richland Wa

photo Spoken Gently

There is a mystery in the mountains that can be viewed in the Richland Washington area. The historians Gary Lentz and Dave Nicandri, in collaboration with Rob Stratton a surveyor, have collaborated to find an answer to the intriguing mystery of the Lewis and Clark story in Washington:

Who saw the conical mountain bearing southwest?
This question appears to be of some importance to historians, who have pursued documents to determine the facts; Clark wrote about the mountain in his diary; he appear to have time to write about it; and he was a healthy and fit man to be able to visit the mountain. This has begged the question: Why didn’t Clark mention that he climbed the mountain?

It is possible that Captain Meriwether Lewis saw the mountain first.…

West Richland Wa Still Wrestling With Identity

photo Spoken Gently

The Home Depot store at Richland's City View development calls itself the West Richland store, and that hasn't escaped the attention of the West Richland City Council.

The council said Saturday it once again is thinking about the city's need to distinguish itself from its nearest neighbor by considering a name change.

It's just an idea at this point, and the council isn't ready to float any potential names past residents. But one thing was clear from the conversation at a council workshop at Three Rivers Transit Center -- it won't be Red Mountain.

A controversy brewed early in 2006 when Councilman Merle Johnson brought up the name change concept at the local chamber of commerce. Owners of Red Mountain wineries and vineyards accused the city of trying…

The mayors of Pasco, Kennewick, Richland, West Richland and Prosser, Wa -- as well as the leader of the Greater Connell Area Chamber of Commerce -- told more than 300 members of the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce gathered at the Red Lion Hotel about happenings and accomplishments in their communities.

Representatives of each city touted their population home growth, expanding commercial sectors, parks and outdoor recreation and dropping crime rates.

Growth in Connell is being driven by the anticipation of new jobs from the expansion of the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center and Lamb Weston potato processing plant, said Gene…
